Nothing could be less prudent than going to war with Britain. Although there are innumerable reasons why this is so, I shall endeavor to list a few of them. 1) We are unprepared militarily for this war. We are a young country. Brilliant, proud, but young. In these early days in which our country takes tottering steps toward unity and strength, we must not undermine our growth with new war. Our army is poorly trained, barely disciplined and scattered. 2) Our economy is still stunted as a result of the Embargo Act. We need recovery time, not a new debacle to recover from... and lastly, 3) We have no chance of securing a victory versus Britain. Their navy is stronger, their men have received superior training, and they have far more soldier to pour into this endeavor. Additionally, Britain has funds that we lack. With Britain’s superior troops and armaments, declaring war could not be more ill-advised. Rather than start a war that we have no hope of winning, let us seek to build up our own country.

The British have long been our mortal foes in battle. Their crimes against the United States come without justification. Their despicable actions are, at this time, being diplomatically put to an end. It would behoove the United States to refrain from hastily rushing into a war with Britain. Such a war would be a great folly and a detriment to the foundation that has been built thus far. As a country, we are in no position to launch any attack, especially one aimed upon the most powerful nation of our time. In order to protect the prosperity, independence, and resilience of this country, abstinence from a bloodied war is imperative. Reasons for avoiding war include: 1.) The United States has come far from since the days of democratic infancy. Thousands of lives have been lost for this Republic, and it’s the responsibility of our government to ensure that their efforts were not in vain. A war with the mighty tyrant (Britain) would jeopardize the world’s only democracy and potentially extinguish the power of the United States. It’s foolish to subject ourselves to war when, in all likelihood, the British will decimate our armies and reconquer North America from our cold lifeless hands. 2.) Our military strength at this time isn’t fortified enough to engage in a war, let alone a war that will also be played out on the high seas. Military funding is meager at best, and our militias are inadequately equipped to sustain the bludgeons of the British military. Our military infancy will render us vulnerable and ultimately incapable of being victorious. 3.) There are more pressing issues at home, such as the economy and our emerging democracy. The Embargo act has diminished, to some degree, our accumulation of supplies that would be necessary for a potential, prolonged war. Britain has more financial means and capital to back up their war efforts, whereas our economy is susceptible to even the slightest internal affairs, and a war would be devastating to the U.S economy. It would be a victory in and of itself to preserve our economy and democracy from the perils of war.

A war with Britain would be dreadful. While there are some people who think it is a good thing I will give you a few reasons to persuade you to stop thinking this war is good. 1) We are not prepared, our military is inadequate, we have little funds and only a few soldiers. It also does not help that we are starting a new country and a have democracy in the making. Secondly 2) some military men think by defeating Britain we will be able to capture Canada. Why do we need Canada? It serves no purpose to us, except for land, although, we are expanding our country now so we have no need for Canada. Lastly 3) Britain has a lot more power over us. Mainly because they are developed and have a strong army to defeat us. Some may think we have an advantage because we know the land, but British people have been over here since the Revolutionary War and they know the land just as well as us.

I shall conclude that the U.S ought not to wage war against Britain, albeit there are many reasons to bravely foist ourselves upon them. Our fine nation will persist through British terrorism and be resilient in spirit. Let the British continue their reputation-blackening crimes, and let diplomacy assuage conflict peacefully. Our current forces are insufficient and could not endure a prolonged war. Spread the word like wildfire through the colonies that America will persevere without unnecessary shedding of American blood. Rally in support of diplomacy my brothers! Democracy now, democracy forever!

I conclude my arguments with these final points 1) Nothing can be gained from a lopsided war with Britain. We are unprepared and the people do not wish to bloody their hands. 2) We are financially unstable, and must take this time to repair and grow our country. 3) We can only really earn respect through peace. Warriors are respected as long as they live, but peacemakers command respect eternally. Let us reach out to Britain as friends, cousins. We need not prove military excellence at this juncture- in fact, we lack military to prove. Let us improve ourselves, and offer others our example, rather than our gunpowder and lead.

I conclude my argument in stating that the war is unreasonable to our country. Britian has a lot more power and we will be the laughing stock of the world. We also have no funding for the war. The war is bad and we need to stay away from it. Help me get everyone involved in stopping this war!
